A PROCESS WITH WIDESPREAD PARTICIPATION

The project has welcomed contributions from the city’s inhabitants and from the different Azca stakeholders, using:

1. “AZCA Inspires” Citizen Engagement Survey aimed at residents, visitors, workers, retailers, and business owners in the area

It is developed with the objective of knowing their ideas and concerns with regard to revitalising the Azca public space. This took place between September and November 2020, with over 400 citizens taking part. The majority of contributions were considered for the development of  the project.

2. Meetings were held with the stakeholders of Azca, who passed on their ideas and concerns:

  • Owners of Azca office blocks (Merlin, GMP, ALBA, Monthisa, Corte Inglés, Pontegadea, Mutua, Caja Mar, Generali, Compañía de Seguros España, HI Partners, Infinorsa, OEPM, Adif)
  • COMUNAZCA (Association of Chairs of Calle Orense Residents Communities), executing agreements with the different communities.
  • PROAZCA (Association of AZCA Retailers and Companies).

3. Bearing in mind that it’s necessary to connect this initiative with other projects in the area of influence, such as the renovation of the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, a Collaboration Protocol with the Real Madrid was signed.

4. Renazca’s initial project was subject to a public information process as part of the procedure initiated after the submission of the collaboration initiative to the City Council. Although it was later redirected to a different procedure, namely the Collaboration Agreement, which is currently in an advanced agreement phase, a large portion of the claims made during the public information process were accepted by the Madrid City Council and incorporated into the initial project. In this way, the project has been enriched and improved with contributions, especially from local residents and businesses in the area.
